A hands-on session with a training faculty member. You'll practice teaching, run skills stations, and be evaluated on your own provider skills.
You run a real class with faculty observing. This is where your instructor card is earned, and it has to happen within the AHA's window after your course.

No. AHA instructor courses are open to people from a range of backgrounds — EMTs, firefighters, nurses, respiratory therapists, physicians, and others. What matters is holding current provider status in the discipline you want to teach and being able to demonstrate those skills at provider level. Tell us your background in the application and we'll confirm.
Yes. Alignment doesn't make you an employee and doesn't stop you teaching at your department or facility. You set your own class schedule and your own tuition. What alignment gives you is a training site to hold your records and issue your cards.
You order them from your instructor portal by discipline, and your balance shows before you schedule. After you teach, you submit the roster through the portal and claim cards against your balance. You'll always know how many you have on hand.
Your portal dashboard shows a countdown for every credential on file, and we flag it well before the date. Renewing requires meeting the AHA's teaching minimum during your cycle, which is exactly why we track courses taught — so the number is already there when you need it.
The American Heart Association issues it, through the Training Center. Caliber Medical Training is an AHA Training Site (TS89273) aligned under a Training Center that holds the agreement.
